    About Therapist

This Hart therapist is a compassionate and experienced couples counsellor with many years’ experience. She is also a member of the Australian Counselling Association (ACA). She has worked with a wide range of clients in private practice and non-profit organisations. She specialises in providing therapeutic support to adults and couples. She provides a safe, confidential, caring and nonjudgmental environment for her couples to discuss their concerns with ease.

She listens with empathy and then provides couples with practical tools and strategies to help her clients overcome difficulties they are experiences and supports them to work towards a connected and harmonious relationship.

This Hart therapist uses an evidence based and holistic approach to tailor her session to meet each couples individual circumstances.

How many years counselling experience do you have?

    Over 5 years.

What are three strengths you have as a Psychologist/Counsellor?
    1. I am empathetic and able to make clients feel at ease from the moment they meet me to the end of our journey together
    2. I am able to hold space to give each individual in the relationship time to disclose their thoughts and emotions.
    3. I am able to utilise an evidence based and holistic approach whilst ensuring that each session is tailored to meet the goals and needs of clients.
What is the most satisfying and fulfilling part of the work you do?

It is a real privilege that couples trust me to support them through some of their most vulnerable thoughts and moments. It is an honour to be able to work with couples at the start of their journey and watch their communication and connection flourish throughout our sessions.

What’s an example of a couple you have helped the most?

One couple that comes to mind, who I will name A and B for the example.

A and B had been married for 25 years and had 3 children together. Overtime A and B had become disconnected and “fell out of love”. A began talking to other individuals to get his emotional/ physical needs met. When B found out she felt betrayed and there was no trust in the relationship.

A and B wanted to save their marriage for the children and see if there was any love left between them.

During the sessions we worked through A forgiving himself for what he had done as well as B working to forgive A. We explored why this had occurred and both couples took accountability for the disconnection in the relationship. We worked on communication, connection, avoidance, reactivity, individual thoughts in the relationship and values.

The couple have now renewed their vows. They also state that they have never been more “in love” and “we are the happiest we have ever been”. This couple I saw at the beginning of last year and they continue to have a session once every 2 months just to check in.
