About Alexandra

Alexandra is committed, genuine and empathetic. Through her dedicated therapeutic work, she supports couples in reaching a deeper understanding of how their unique, individual histories interact within their relationships. Alexandra pursued psychotherapy with a passion for helping people preserve the relationships they cherish most deeply and a belief in the healing power of intimate relationships.

Using an integrative approach, Alexandra draws on her training in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, The Gottman Method and The Psychobiological Approach to Couples Therapy (PACT). Each of these models provides helpful tools and interventions that she adapts to the needs of each client.
In her practice, she works with a diverse range of people – from married, heterosexual couples in middle age to queer, polyamorous partners in their early twenties. She is non-judgmental, informed and excited to support couples in identifying, creating and sustaining the types of relationships they desire.

Her foundational studies in integrative psychotherapy provide her with a complex and comprehensive model of the human mind, considering all phases, experiences and contexts of development from infancy to adulthood. This knowledge helps her understand how early relationships and traumas may contribute to distress in relationships, supporting her in working with complex relational dynamics.

Beyond her formal training, she has pursued further studies in working with polyamorous people, managing differences in sexual desire (desire discrepancy), infidelity, and supporting families through separation. Alexandra is committed to education and continuing professional development. She currently has a keen interest in healing and managing complex trauma and personality disorders, particularly in intimate relationships.

Clients can expect a dynamic process with moments of laughter, tears and joy.

Alexandra is committed to listening deeply and persisting with you through difficulties. With gentleness and firmness, she will help you reflect on your contributions to the relationship. Most importantly, therapy is always a collaboration; she will seek your perspective on what you hope to gain from therapy and what you intuitively feel you need to achieve those goals. She will work with you to adjust the process as needed until all of your relationship goals have been met.

More about Alexandra

What are three strengths you have as a Psychologist/Counsellor?
  1. Integrative theoretical foundations
  2. Deep reverence and empathy for the human experience
  3. A capacity to hold complexity
What is the most satisfying and fulfilling part of the work you do?

Helping couples to understand themselves and each other as individuals and how their unique histories, experiences and values interact in relationship is of the greatest importance to my practice; and seeing couples unite, heal and fall again in love, is what inspires and motivates my work.

What’s an example of a couple you have helped the most?

I have helped couples recover from devastating infidelities that shattered their trust and faith to the point where they were unsure if their relationship would ever recover. Such couples feel that therapy has “saved their relationship”, giving me confidence that with commitment, capacity and dedication to the therapeutic process, even the deepest of wounds can be healed.
