Ann-Maree is a couples counsellor based in West Gosford on the Central Coast. She works with individuals and couples navigating disconnection, conflict, and major relationship transitions, offering a calm, supportive space where both people feel heard without judgment or blame. Ann-Maree understands that relationships can be both deeply fulfilling and incredibly challenging, and she is passionate about helping clients move from feeling stuck or overwhelmed to gaining clarity, direction, and a renewed sense of connection.
Ann-Maree’s approach is warm, grounded, and collaborative. She believes therapy is a shared process, where clients are active participants in creating meaningful change. Drawing on evidence-based approaches, including Emotion Focused Therapy, alongside attachment-focused, Gottman Therapy, Terry Real helps clients understand the patterns driving their relationship dynamics. She has a natural ability to identify underlying cycles, name what’s happening beneath the surface, and gently guide couples toward more effective communication, emotional awareness, and reconnection.
She has particular experience working with couples in crisis, including those navigating infidelity, trust breakdown, and separation. Ann-Maree supports couples to slow things down and create space for reflection, whether that involves rebuilding the relationship or moving toward a respectful separation. Her work often includes helping clients manage anxiety within relationships, address control or reassurance-seeking behaviours, and navigate power imbalances. She is also experienced in supporting individuals who struggle with boundaries, people-pleasing, and emotional regulation, particularly when these patterns impact their relationships.
Clients often describe Ann-Maree as approachable, insightful, and direct in a way that feels safe and constructive. She is deeply committed to creating a neutral therapeutic space where both partners feel equally supported, allowing for honest conversations and meaningful progress. Ann-Maree finds her work most fulfilling when she sees clients begin to truly understand each other again, shifting from conflict to connection, and creating relationships that feel stronger, more aligned, and more fulfilling than before.
