Dianne is a Registered Psychologist, an Associate Member of the Australian Psychological Society and specialises in marriage counselling in Sydney. Her main area of interest is with Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), including Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) and Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT).
CBT is an evidence-based treatment that aims to address the link between emotions, behaviours and thinking and is effective in treating many conditions – including, anger, anxiety, mood, personality, eating and psychotic disorders. MBCT is a form of CBT that is proving to be a powerful therapy for personal transformation and healing through learning to overcome painful emotions and is particularly useful for addressing depression, anxiety and panic attacks, grief and loss, sleep disturbances, chronic illness, trauma and grief and loss. SFBT is a form of therapy that focuses on the solutions rather than the problems, with a goal of reaching relief as quickly as possible.
Dianne also has experience and training working with children and adolescents with particular behavioural difficulties, including Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Conduct Disorder, Attention Deficit disorders and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. This experience and training includes working with children, adolescents and adults with intellectual disabilities and pervasive developmental disorders.
Dianne is also an accredited practitioner for the Triple P Positive Parenting Program®, an evidence-based program focussing on family intervention – with a goal to help parents with their parenting skills and to build positive relationships with their children.
Dianne uses a combination of these therapies when working with couples who are experiencing a troubled relationship, using both behavioural and emotional approaches. She provides Sydney couples counselling, pre-marriage counselling, anger management and narcissism counselling.
