    About Fiona H

Fiona is an experienced counsellor, having run her private practice since 2009 and teaching the Diploma of Counselling since 2014.

Fiona brings with her the ability to hold the space with empathy, genuine care and positive regard.

Fiona believes that counselling is a collaborative process; she provides a safe space for individuals and couples to express themselves honestly, from a healing and therapeutic perspective.
Her style is warm and interactive. She believes in treating everyone with dignity, respective, sensitivity and compassion and does not believe in using stigmatising labels or pathologising natural life experiences.

How many years counselling experience do you have?

    Over 13 years

What are three strengths you have as a Psychologist/Counsellor?

My empathy. The ability to connect from the heart. To truly hear someone’s story and hold the space for them no matter where they’re at.

What is the most satisfying and fulfilling part of the work you do?

Allowing people to tell their stories. Holding the space from one human to another with empathy, positive regard and genuine care. Seeing people breath again and express themselves in a safe place.

What’s an example of a couple you have helped the most?

I worked with a couple for a number of years, from when they first got married to eventually them deciding to separate. Throughout their relationship, they struggled greatly, however with counselling, they were able to express themselves in a safe environment and set some good boundaries around communication. Although they eventually separated and divorced, they were able to do this amicably and respectfully because of weekly counselling sessions with me.
