Irene is passionate about supporting individuals and couples and recognises the privileged position she has in facilitating an open dialogue between partners within a framework of evidence-based psychological care. Her belief is that our innate desire to connect and our enduring ability to love and trust are the cornerstone of a healthy identity and therefore a health relationship.
Unfortunately, with today’s mounting pressures, individuals can lose touch with themselves leading to withdrawal from intimate interactions, the experience of overwhelming emotions or feeling numb and the use of unhelpful coping mechanisms in order to manage day to day responsibilities.
Using a Psychodynamic approach to problem formulation and intervention, consultations are tailored to a couple’s unique circumstances and treatment needs. Irene is experienced in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Interpersonal Psychotherapy therapeutic approaches and has worked with individuals, couples and families across her career to enhance functionality and improve dynamics.
Irene is available for, and experienced in LGBTQI+ counselling, and has previously volunteered at Twenty10 / Gay and Lesbian Counselling Service NSW.
