    About Therapist

Please note, Jess is currently online only, and planning to return to face-to-face in the Sunshine Coast over the next few months.

As part of her practice, Jess is a strong believer in moving toward connection and healing and away from shame and disempowerment. As your therapist she will aim to guide you toward a more settled connection while providing a safe space where you can explore the deeper needs that may have gone unmet for a long while. She understands the strength it takes to enter therapy, and respects you and your partnership along the journey.

Formally, Jess is a qualified counsellor and member of the Australian Counselling Association. She has experience working with individuals and couples within a range of areas including relationship breakdown, communication issues, infidelity, depression, anxiety, eating disorders, trauma, LGBTQI+, issues with self-compassion and grief and loss.

Alongside an empathic, client-centered approach to therapy, Jess focuses on using proven working methods to help provide a pathway to healing. Such approaches are evidence-based Couples Therapy, including the Gottman Method, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. These theories aside, she will work to ensure your needs are priority and tailor the treatment to your relationship and its dimensions.

Jess’ practice aims to reconnect you with your natural passion, purpose and establish your deeper capacity for love and intimacy. Her role is to provide you with a place to heal; with an ideology that expresses, ‘sometimes we just need a helping hand’.

What are three strengths you have as a Psychologist/Counsellor?
    1. A deeply empathic and non-judgemental approach to understanding your inner world.
    2. High level of compassion with respect for your needs.
    3. Understanding of the deeply difficult reasons that may bring you into therapy, with a passion to help support re-connection.
What is the most satisfying and fulfilling part of the work you do?

    To put it simply; connection.

Knowing that re-connection to purpose, love and passion is possible, and seeing it firsthand, is what makes the work so rewarding.

What’s an example of a couple you have helped the most?

A couple came into therapy recently with a deep hurt. This issue bought them both significant pain and suffering; something they felt was breaking point. As painful as the initial experience can be of therapy, even after the first session, there was a sense of hope.

With some hard work on all ends, we were able to slowly get rid of the ‘rubble’ in their relationship, and re-build. Even in the moments of deep pain, there was an ability to reconnect to their purpose within therapy. We were able to work step-by-step to find their way back to having a healthy, trusting and committed relationship. With a shift that still helps them work through issues with less suffering now.
