    About Kellie S

Kellie is a qualified counsellor and member of the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia. She has vast experience working with couples across a range of areas including addiction, relationship breakdown, LGBTQI+, communication, infidelity, depression, anxiety, anger management, self-compassion, grief and loss.

Kellie creates a warm, safe and non-judgmental atmosphere for her clients. Alongside a compassionate, client-centered demeanour, Kellie utilizes various evidence-based psychological approaches in order to address client’s expressed therapeutic needs. Such approaches include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Solution Focused Therapy.

Kellie considers it an honour to work alongside each couple to identify and address the unresolved needs and emotions within their dynamic while also giving them tools to work on these areas outside of session. She believes that communication is the foundation of a healthy relationship and that conflict can ultimately be a source of intimacy when couples learn to manage it well. She knows the deep sense of hope and fulfillment in being able to learn to face life’s challenges together.

Kellie believes that reaching out for support is a sign of strength and an important part of maintaining a healthy relationship. She desires to meet you wherever you are in your journey and provide a space where each partner can feel genuinely heard and respected. Throughout her work with couples, she has seen first-hand the many different destructive patterns and breakdowns which can develop within relationships.

She recognizes that you are the experts in your own relationship, and she invites you to work as a team to develop solutions which are meaningfully tailored to your unique experiences. She believes that inherent within this open and supportive counselling dynamic are boundless opportunities for the development of both personal and collective insight as well as the restoration of hope. She highlights the importance of individual growth as a necessary component of relationship growth and therefore works to gently challenge and encourage each partner to take ownership of their path forward.

She looks forward to getting to know you and supporting you on your journey.

What are three strengths you have as a Psychologist/Counsellor?
    1. I am flexible and adaptive, working alongside clients to identify strategies and solutions which are meaningful to them.
    2. I am empathic and compassionate, placing great emphasis on ensuring that each partner feels heard and supported while in such a vulnerable space.
    3. I take an evidence-based, holistic approach, balancing the implementation of practical tools with the development and growth of insight within the relationship.
What is the most satisfying and fulfilling part of the work you do?

Assisting clients to soften any blame and anger which is present so that they are better able to communicate about the underlying needs within their relationship which are not being met.

What’s an example of a couple you have helped the most?

I have been effective in helping couples identify and confront the source of underlying issues which are leading to relationship breakdown and unhealthy communication patterns. Addressing these issues at a deeper level allows for the healing of old hurts and collective growth as couples learn how to meaningfully affirm and communicate with their partner.
