About Nina

Nina is a highly qualified and experienced Counsellor having completed a Master of Counselling. She works in various settings with adults, couples, families, youth and children. Nina’s primary focus is stress and trauma at all stages of life and how this can negatively impact people’s lives.

Nina has a respectful and compassionate manner to support clients to explore different aspects and increase self-awareness. Through this process, a deeper reflection of thoughts and feelings can allow clients gain understanding of their past and present situation. Nina works with you within a safe and confidential environment with the aim of improving a client’s overall health and well-being.

The hardships in life can disrupt where one wants to be and cause emotional pain and distress. At times, people caught in these personally harmful situations need a supportive and professional counsellor to guide them to a more fulfilling life experience. Nina can help you achieve this by using evidence-based therapies and theories.

More about Nina

What is the most satisfying and fulfilling part of the work you do?

Trauma and long term stress plays havoc with our mind and body – I feel satisfied when a person understands that it is a survival mechanism of their body and that it is a normal function that needs to be managed. This can help to change the story of their life from ‘I’m going mad’ to ‘this is a normal response’ or similar. Normalising the body’s response when under stress is an important aspect to allow healing to occur over time.

What’s an example of a couple you have helped the most?

A client who had suffered childhood sexual abuse and extreme family dysfunction is now able to set appropriate boundaries in her life and is able to recognise when she is being triggered and know how to manage her body when this occurs.
