The first qualities that will strike you about Renée are her warmth and genuineness. She believes our sense of self, our attachment style, and our relationships are key to our general health and wellbeing. Renée loves working with individuals and couples in all types of relationships (couples, open and other relationships, families, friends, or colleagues). Her approach allows clients to experience therapy that is deeply personal to their concerns and supportive of their values.
Renée’s desire to support others has guided her trajectory through extensive, well-rounded university study, including a Master of Counselling and Psychotherapy, a Graduate Diploma of Counselling, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts. Renée has specialist training and clinical expertise in emotionally focused therapy for couples and individuals, psychodynamic / humanistic psychotherapy, dialectical behaviour therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, trauma and attachment, and mindfulness. She is currently completing a Master of Science in Medicine (Sexual and Reproductive Health) in Psychosexual Therapy, and a three year intensive training in The Conversational Model— an evidence-based treatment for persistent depressive disorder, deliberate self-harm, complex somatic disorders and complex personality disorders.
Having worked with adults suffering from treatment-resistant depression and anxiety, chronic forms of addiction, self-harm behaviours, suicide ideation, and the legacy of early childhood trauma, Renée has profoundly witnessed the central role our attachment issues play in creating and maintaining relationships, and how we function as human beings.
Previously, Renée was a remedial and somatic massage therapist, and taught Meditation and Yoga for many years, igniting a deep unrelenting passion for studying the mind and our emotions. Renée believes the journey of learning never ceases, but requires an openness to continually expand the parameters of what we think we know.
Embodying compassion and respect, Renée believes in the unlimited outcomes that the therapeutic conversation can inspire. When we are seen, heard, and validated, we can intuitively navigate the process of growth and change, and create the life and relationships that we always knew were possible.
