    About Therapist

This Hart therapist has a calm and compassionate nature that enables clients to feel safely connected in the therapy space. She helps individuals, couples and families to understand the root causes of their distress, by unpacking their underlying fears and emotional needs that keep them stuck in unhealthy relationship patterns. She is passionate about family, and offers extended couples & family therapy in complex situations.

She is a registered and experienced counsellor, who has experience working with individuals, couples, and families with complex needs, including people from refugee backgrounds, and separated families. These experiences enable her to work with cultural sensitivity, using an integrative and trauma-informed approach. This means that she uses various approaches to suit clients’ needs.

This Hart therapist believes that most emotional and psychological distress stems from relational trauma or pain. Thus, her approach involves considering clients’ relationship struggles in the context of their life experiences, particularly their early attachment experiences.

She draws from her trainings in Systemic Couple and Family Therapy and Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy (EFCT) approaches, to develop long-lasting change for clients.

Using the evidence-based EFT approach, she is able to help couples to identify negative patterns in their relationship that contribute to their relationship distress and help them co-create a secure emotional bond with each other.

She supports individuals to address issues such as low self-esteem, anxiety, loss of a relationship/separation, anger management and emotional regulation to achieve thriving relationships.

She is passionate about helping clients to develop secure relationships, which enables them to have better emotional balance in their lives. Her approach to relationship counselling enables clients to improve their sense of self and develop hope that their relationships can be improved.

How many years counselling experience do you have?

    Over 8 years.

What are three strengths you have as a Psychologist/Counsellor?
    1. I am highly self-reflective, which helps me to be a better therapist.
    2. I have been told that I have a calm nature and good pace in my sessions that allow clients to feel supported and connected to in-the-moment experiences.
    3. I love reading, learning, and engaging in continued professional development to improve my practice as a therapist.
What is the most satisfying and fulfilling part of the work you do?

Seeing the smallest shifts in my clients who may seem stuck in their emotional distress.

What’s an example of a couple you have helped the most?

I worked with a couple where one partner had an affair, and the trust was completely broken. They have been working with me for 1.5 years, where we worked on helping them recognise the patterns that kept them locked in a cycle of distress, and further worked on rebuilding trust and improving their communication. They have come out the other end with healthier coping styles and feeling more closer to each other emotionally.
