Simon is a compassionate and qualified counsellor located in the Australian Capital Territory. He has a Masters in Counselling and is a member the Australian Counselling Association. In addition to his private practice, he manages an Employee Assistance Program for small businesses in regional NSW. He is also an active volunteer with Parentline ACT over many years, providing both telephone and face to face counselling, and delivering group psychoeducation program for new and not so new fathers.

Simon works with both adult men and women as well as adolescents. He also works with men both young and old, focused on issues around relationships, parenting issues including those related to step/blended families, perpetrators of domestic violence as well as those experiencing domestic violence in their intimate relationships and clients going through separation and divorce.

He believes that no matter who we are, we can all benefit from talking to somebody about issues and challenges that affect our lives. If you are having issues with your relationships or an emotional breakdown due to divorce, failure, or loss of a loved one.

He tailors his approach to each individual client’s therapeutic needs, combining a wide range of therapeutic approaches. These include, Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Gottman method, Mindfulness-Based Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Attachment Theory, person centred and trauma-informed approaches.

What are three strengths you have as a Psychologist/Counsellor?
    1. Empathy
    2. Compassion
    3. Good communication skills
What is the most satisfying and fulfilling part of the work you do?

Having to opportunity to work with a diverse of range clients, all with such a wide range of presenting problems. No two days or even two hours are the same and the feeling of accomplishment and seeing clients not only find comfort in therapy but gain perspective and clarity in themselves is enormously rewarding.

What’s an example of a couple you have helped the most?

A couple come to me for relationship counselling, both had issues from their previous relationships that were impacting on their relationship, including some significant trust issues. Over the period of a few months we worked through each of their individual issues and brought trust back into their current relationship.
