More about Sue

What are three strengths you have as a Psychologist/Counsellor?
  1.  Psychoeducation
  2. Helping clients to understand their past and how it could be impacting their present
  3. Empathy and gently supporting clients through difficult times
What is the most satisfying and fulfilling part of the work you do?

I enjoy walking alongside my clients in their journey of healing. I am passionate about enabling my clients to experience breakthroughs to past traumas that might be impacting them. I consider myself to be an educational counsellor as I empower my clients with knowldge so they can make informed choices.

I am passionate about teaching anger management courses to people who want to learn how to communicate their needs without using anger or violence. I support clients (often men) who are involved in court cases and may have an IVO and removed from their homes.

What’s an example of a couple you have helped the most?

I recently worked with a male client who attended counselling to deal with anger management. I supported him with psychoeducation about anger whilst also working through his childhood experiences. He experienced a break through moment when he realised how his childhood experiences were repeating as patterns in his adult intimate relationships. With this new awareness he has taken positive steps to reach out to people from his past, apologise and is now moving forward in a postive direction, bringing peace and lightness into his life.
