More about Theresa

What is the most satisfying and fulfilling part of the work you do?

As a psychotherapist and counsellor, the most satisfying and fulfilling part of the work is witnessing the transformation in my clients’ lives. Seeing them overcome challenges, gain insights, and build resilience as they move toward a more fulfilling and balanced life is incredibly rewarding.

Being trusted with someone’s deepest struggles and guiding them to a place of healing and growth is a profound privilege. The moments when clients realise their strength, reconnect with hope or achieve a breakthrough they once thought impossible are deeply inspiring. Helping people navigate life’s complexities and fostering their sense of empowerment makes this work truly meaningful.

What’s an example of a couple you have helped the most?

One of the most impactful cases I’ve worked on involved an elderly couple navigating significant personal and relational challenges.

Simultaneously, I worked with the couple during joint counselling sessions, focusing on rebuilding trust, improving communication, and addressing the wife’s feelings of neglect and frustration. Over time, both partners showed remarkable progress. The husband developed the ability to maintain a healthy relationship with alcohol and significantly reduced depressive episodes. The wife grew stronger emotionally, and her anxiety and depression eased as their relationship stabilized.

The couple began to reconnect on a deeper level, rediscovering joy in each other’s company. Today, they live without explosive episodes and their renewed enthusiasm for life and love for each other is a testament to the power of persistence, collaboration, and shared commitment to healing.

This journey was a beautiful reminder of why I do this work.
