Finding the right support for your inner world, both individually and as a couple, is a significant step. If past or current experiences or relationship struggles and conflict leave you feeling disconnected and burdened, imagine a space where growth and transformation are possible. Yolanda is a mature and qualified Counsellor and Social Worker with 25 years of experience supporting individuals and couples across Australia and New Zealand.
Drawing on years of experience and several qualifications, including a Master of Social Practice (1st class honours) and two bachelor’s degrees with a major in Counselling and Social Work, she brings a depth of understanding and trauma-informed expertise to her work.
Yolanda is a full member with AASW. She has extensive knowledge and work experience in Domestic and Family Violence (DFV) working with women, men, children, and young people individually and in groups, which has provided deep insight into relationship dynamics and trauma. Yolanda is committed to providing a non-judgmental environment when working with couples so both partners feel safe to explore their experiences and concerns without fear of blame. She provides counselling for couples seeking support for a wide range of difficulties, including harm or trauma in intimate relationships due to, but not limited to, affairs and deceit, abuse and violence, distance and disconnection, conflict and communication difficulties, and negative long-standing patterns.
Beyond her qualifications, Yolanda’s deep passion for supporting individuals and couples stems from personally experiencing many and varied life challenges, including childhood and relationship trauma. This has shown her firsthand the profound strength of the human spirit and fuels her ongoing commitment to helping others navigate their own relationship challenges. Yolanda’s special interest in relationship counselling also led her to teach relationship counselling to post-graduate students. She also had the opportunity to co-author an article published in the prestigious Family Process Journal, a respected academic publication in the field of family therapy.
Yolanda’s work is grounded in frontline experience, specialised trauma-informed training, and a mature and compassionate approach. She draws on therapeutic frameworks such as Attachment Theory, Somatic Therapy, Parts Work, CBT and Narrative Therapy, which are particularly helpful in understanding relationship patterns and scripts, the impact of experiences on the body, and different aspects of self. Yolanda believes in client-centred therapy and can tailor her approach to your unique experiences and needs. Her goal is to create a safe and confidential space where you feel seen, supported, and empowered. Collaboration and respect are fundamental to her work with clients.
Yolanda knows that taking a dedicated step to the therapeutic process and building a more fulfilling life is one of the most significant investments someone can make. She values your investment by creating a safe space to help you navigate challenges and move towards greater intimacy, honesty, and trust in yourself and in your relationship.
