How many years counselling experience do you have?

    18 years

What are three strengths you have as a Psychologist/Counsellor?

    Warm, gentle and caring.

What is the most satisfying and fulfilling part of the work you do?

The most rewarding aspect of relationship counselling is seeing couples who were caught in a vicious cycle of hurt, blame, contempt, disconnection and loneliness, learning to lower their defences and criticisms and turning to each other to express their deepest fears and insecurities in a gentle and caring way.

What’s an example of a couple you have helped the most?

All couples are special and unique in what they bring to therapy.  I’m grateful for their trust in me and the stories that they have shared.  A very special couple reached out to me for help, in a state of distress and despair.  They presented with issues of loss of long-term employment, a legal battle, severe depression with suicidal ideation, cancer, depleted communication, withdrawn and disconnection, and loss of affection and intimacy.  With ongoing supportive therapy, this couple overcame their multiple hardships.  They learnt to re-engage and re-connect mentally, emotionally and physically to support each other through the toughest times.  Through immense commitment and hard work, my couple has found love and laughter in their lives together again.
