    About Elaine

This Hart counsellor is calm, warm and empathic, who is passionate about helping her clients clarify the issues that are affecting their sense of happiness. She supports them in making the changes that they desire. She works at a pace that is comfortable to the client and tailors her approach depending on individual preferences, personality types and desired outcomes.

She works with both individuals and couples in her Adelaide practice, who present with a wide range of issues including: anxiety, stress, depression, anger issues, communication difficulties, relationship and sexual problems, infidelity, parenting problems and much more.

She has a special interest in working with couples, in new or long-standing relationships. She gently brings awareness to any destructive patterns and habits that may have formed over a long period of time, or may have been brought from previous relationships and childhood experiences. Her skill is in seeing the things that may be difficult to see from the inside and helping people, without judgement or pressure, to find a way forward that honours the needs of both partners.

She works with clients in a creative and open way that ensures it is a joint process that seeks to empower and bring confidence to everyone involved. She is naturally skilled in hearing her client’s unique perspective and understanding and bringing to light the ways people are thinking, feeling and behaving and how this is affecting their interactions and personal sense of wellbeing. She is experienced in teaching and supporting people to communicate in healthy, honest and respectful ways that greatly improve their relationships.

How many years counselling experience do you have?

    Over 5 years experience

What are three strengths you have as a Psychologist/Counsellor?
    1. Ability to create a safe space where each person feels comfortable to express and share their feelings, often for the first time.
    2. Skilled in listening & observing in the here & now and gently bringing to light people’s triggers, relationship dynamics and ingrained patterns of relating to each other.
    3. Supporting & nurturing people towards new habits and perspectives that improve their relationships and personal wellbeing.
What is the most satisfying and fulfilling part of the work you do?

Being honoured to be part of a couple’s intimate journey and seeing them become more aware of themselves and recognising the power they have to make their own unique and fulfilling choices that lead to positive outcomes.

What’s an example of a couple you have helped the most?

I recently worked with a couple who felt disconnected from each other both emotionally and sexually and were on the brink of separation. Through our 7 sessions together they learned to communicate more effectively and they realised that they very much wanted to be together and rekindled a sense of fun and romance. They now look forward to travel & retirement together.
