    About Elizabeth

Please note, Elizabeth is on leave until May 6th.

This Hart Psychologist’s main interests are intimate relationship satisfaction and spiritual development.  She is passionate about helping clients get to the heart of what really matters to them, and empowering them to build a relationship where they both feel loved, supported and a priority in each other’s life.

She has received cutting-edge training from the preeminent world authorities on relationships, Prof. Susan Johnson, Prof. John Gottman and Dr. Julie Schwartz Gottman.

Early in her career, before writing a novel, she was a love and relationships columnist for a national magazine.

Her couples’ consultations facilitate emotional connection and the longevity of love.  While appreciating the uniqueness of each client, in terms of their feelings, concerns, needs, priorities, background and personality, her comprehensive knowledge of the complexity of relationships helps cultivate the intimate environment clients yearn for.

This Hart Psychologist can help couples:

    She can help individuals:

    • Change self-defeating thoughts and behaviours
    • Clarify thoughts and emotions
    • Explore the unrewarding aspects of their life and increase their sense of contentment
    • Develop insight into what underpins their unfavourable reactions and behaviours
    • Expand awareness, acceptance and compassion towards self and others
    • Feel some relief if they’re in pain, or adapt to circumstances that are outside their control.

Clients can expect respect, compassion and a down-to-earth approach.  Every consultation is aimed at deepening their emotional connection and developing a more satisfying involvement.  When we improve the quality of our intimate relationship, we improve the quality of our life.

How many years counselling experience do you have?

    Over 25 years.

What are three strengths you have as a Psychologist/Counsellor?
    1. Relentless empathy
    2. Genuine interest in clients’ wellbeing
    3. Extensive experience in helping clients change negative patterns
What is the most satisfying and fulfilling part of the work you do?

Observing couples work through their issues and deeply connect is enormously fulfilling.

What’s an example of a couple you have helped the most?

It was disheartening to hear early in a first session that the couple in front of me, who had separated 11 times and divorced once, had already seen a handful of therapists.  Before reuniting two years earlier, they had vowed never to part again, however, the wife was at her wit’s end.  Gently helping her give up her expectations of the ideal husband and accept the love her husband offered was liberating for them and gratifying for all of us.
