    About Rochelle

This hart therapist has a holistic, practical and grounded attitude to relationships, wellbeing and health. She is constantly applying herself to researching and studying the industry leaders in these fields (relationships, trauma, behaviour change, anxiety, ADHD, ODD and other disabilities, neuroplasticity, shame, leadership, growth mindset and grit just to name a few).

This hart therapist is a mum, wife, teacher and counsellor. She began her journey supporting families and children as a teacher. Fuelled by her passion to do more and help kids and their families, she gained her Masters in Guidance and Counselling.

Her passion for relationship counselling was ignited as she realised that the best way to support children was to support their adults to build health and flourishing relationships. Her professional journey led her to indigenous communities in Cape York where she and her hubby remained for 6 years. This time on The Cape deeply shaped her practice and gave her extensive experience working with people with complex needs and backgrounds.

Today, she uses her vast professional experience and taps into her personal journey as a wife and mum to practically support couples both as individuals and a joined whole. She supports clients on the Gold Coast in Queensland Australia and online worldwide. Motivated to help people work smarter in their relationships and improve their heart connection she delights in supporting people to find simple and personal strategies that transform lives and relationships from the inside out.

What’s an example of a couple you have helped the most?

I’ve worked with many couples that have been divided by factors like kids, parenting styles and extended family (just to name a few). I’ve helped couples find peace and harmony through building common ground and focusing on strengths. With strategic support the couples were able to establish a space for everyone to truly be themselves, feel heard and respected without having to check their personality at the door or give up on what is important to them.

When working together with couples, he brings to light key areas around safe and respectable conflict, how to build connection and intimacy, how to improve communication, and the importance of individual and relationship self care. He is often given feedback around the friendly and approachable space he creates, along with the professional support he provides to his clients.

How many years counselling experience do you have?

What are three strengths you have as a Psychologist/Counsellor?
    1. Creative and adaptable in my approaches to meet individual needs.
    2. My empathic conversational style is often reported as approachable and calming.
    3. Ability to break down complex scenarios into simple attainable steps.
What is the most satisfying and fulfilling part of the work you do?

When I am able to assist clients in making sense of their challenging situation.

Supporting them to feel hope and empowerment, to be able to do something different to make a change.

What’s an example of a couple you have helped the most?

I have supported couples in identifying how conflict is outworking the relationship, and how communication or lack of communication is impacting the relationship.

I have helped a man to see that his responses to fear and shame, was leading to controlling behaviour in the relationship. Once he identified this, he was able to learn better communication skills to speak with his partner, improving the health of their relationship. His partner felt more trusting, and was able to reflect on her own reactions to shame and feelings of inadequacy, learning better ways of communicating what she needed in the relationship.
