    About Therapist

Donna is warm, empathic and non-judgmental, and has been practising counselling since 2016. She has broad experience locally and internationally, having lived overseas as an expatriate. She is also culturally sensitive and has a deep understanding on the role of culture for both individuals and couples.

She holds a Bachelor’s Degree of Science (Psychology) and Masters of Counselling from the University of Canberra. She is also registered with PACFA (Psychotherapists and Counsellors Federation Australia).

She has a strong passion for helping people who are experiencing relationship challenges. She understands there are highs and lows in every relationship and no relationship is perfect. When couples are experiencing difficulties in their relationship sometimes it can feel isolating, especially when they hold it all in. In order for relationships to thrive, rather than just survive, it’s important to understand relationship dynamics and how to work with them.

Donna works with couples to gain an understanding of where they might need help and provides practical strategies to support this. Throughout this process, she holds the space for clients to be able to express their emotions and perspectives. Working with her is a collaborative experience, and she will regularly check in with you to ensure you are getting what you want from relationship counselling. She uses an integrative approach and this allows her to create sessions that are tailored specifically to your needs.

Donna offers addiction counselling for couples sessions only.

How many years counselling experience do you have?

    Over 8 years.

What are three strengths you have as a Psychologist/Counsellor?
    1. I have empathy for both partners’ and I believe in walking alongside both of you. I am there to help you both figure out where your challenges are, and what we can do to help in these areas.
    2. I am non-judgmental. I create a safe space so that both partners feel heard and understood.
    3. I am passionate about helping people with their relationships. I know how crucial our closest relationships are to our well-being. The harmony with our loved ones means that we can better face what life throws at us.
What is the most satisfying and fulfilling part of the work you do?

Having the privilege to enter my clients worlds, hearing their stories and seeing their perspectives. I am always honoured to have clients feel comfortable with me and to share all parts of themselves.

What’s an example of a couple you have helped the most?

“I want to say a huge thanks to this counsellor for saving my marriage! When my life came crashing down around me, I was in enough of a crisis that I had become almost non-functional. Somehow I found this counsellor, who even in the first session started helping me to see more clearly. She has taught my husband and I how to communicate better which has changed our lives. I have never met a person like her who can stay so calm and non judgemental. I can’t recommend her enough!”
