About Fiona

Fiona is a counsellor and psychotherapist, and has been working in this industry for eight years. She completed a Graduate Diploma of Psychology, and then a Masters of Counselling. With a great deal of life and industry experience, she supports her clients in many different areas such as – mental health challenges, alcohol and other drug misuse, addiction, parenting differences and issues, separation and relationship breakdown, infidelity and trust issues, and problems with physical and emotional intimacy.

Fiona has a warm and engaging manner, and brings compassion, empathy and expertise to her work. She respects each couples unique ‘story’ and situation, and tailors her approach accordingly. She uses a number of evidence-based therapies to support this process.

She supports her clients in becoming more aware of problematic thoughts, beliefs, feelings and behaviours, and how they can negatively influence a couple’s relationship dynamic.

Knowing that communication is often a major issue for couples, she supports her clients in working through difficult conversations – allowing each to identify issues, and express their emotions, needs, and hopes. She believes this is one of the most important ways she can support clients to make positive change, and move forward in their relationships and lives.

She is passionate about focusing on the strengths of each individual and the relationship – helping a couple to gain more confidence, and to realise they can make the changes they need and want to.

More about Fiona

How many years counselling experience do you have?

Over 8 years

What are three strengths you have as a Psychologist/Counsellor?
  1. My strong ability to build rapport and relationships with my clients.
  2. My training, knowledge and experience, which enable me to tailor support and equip clients with practical tools and skills to create positive change in their relationships.
  3. The breadth and depth of my experience means I can support couples and the individuals within them, with a wide range of issues and difficulties.
What is the most satisfying and fulfilling part of the work you do?

To witness a couple move from a place of crisis and hopelessness, to one of confidence and hope for the future.

What’s an example of a couple you have helped the most?

A couple who were already separated when they came to counselling, who had been struggling with betrayal, trust and family issues over many years. They were unable to find a way forward, and saw their relationship as ‘too far gone’. By committing to therapy and persevering through many sessions, they were able to shift their perceptions, rebuild trust, and reconcile.

After finishing their counselling journey, they were planning to pursue their dream of buying a farm, and living a future which would be very different to their past.

Parking & Accessibility

The practice is run from a Naturopathic wellness clinic, situated in a suburban strip of businesses. There is ample parking at the rear of the building, and an undercover walkway to provide access to the front.
