About Adena

Adena is a fully registered Psychologist who shows genuine and empathic support/concern for her clients. She engages her clients in working collaboratively with her, with the aim of increasing their feeling of well-being and relationship satisfaction. She utilises various therapeutic frameworks to guide sessions with clients. Sessions are tailored to assess and address the specific needs and concerns of each client or couple, according to their unique situation.

Adena draws from her many years of experience as a psychologist and teacher. In this time, she learnt that most people attend psychology sessions in order to express concerns about their significant others. Many times these conversations revolve around their lives, and the relating or lack of relating to these people.

More about Adena

How many years counselling experience do you have?

Over 15 years.

What are three strengths you have as a Psychologist/Counsellor?
  1. Joining with the couple as we explore their situation.
  2. Working with the ‘space between’ the couple/dyad.
  3. Utilising what I have learnt during professional development sessions to better assist clients.
What is the most satisfying and fulfilling part of the work you do?

The most satisfying part of the work that I do is seeing couples being able to bridge the gap between themselves to be able to move forward together, rather than apart.

What’s an example of a couple you have helped the most?

An example of a couple that I helped is one that attended the first session with difficulties in communicating. They both had extensive relationship histories. They also had childhood events and relationships that affected their interactions in the current relationship. They were able to work together, using mostly the Gottman approach, and felt comfortable enough to make a commitment to get married, they are now engaged!
