    About Therapist

Alana works from a person-centred, trauma informed approach, to support her clients through life’s twists and turns. She focuses on a here and now, embodied approach that cultivates the connection between the mind-body.

She has experience working with a diverse range of issues and experiences, including ADHD/neurodiversity, disabilities, chronic illnesses and LGBTQIA+ matters. She practices with the understanding that life changing therapy is a journey, not a cure-all or quick fix. All gendered, sexual, racial and cultural identities are welcome and will be respected.

By reconnecting with the body’s responses to certain behavioural or environmental factors, she helps her clients make sense of their experiences on a deeper level. She supports her clients to bring about meaningful, positive change in their lives by helping them understand how their past is impacting their present.

Understanding the sensitive nature surrounding topics of gender, sex and sexuality, she holds a safe space to work through difficult issues. She is easy to talk to, approaching her clients with warmth and a judgement free disposition. Her humanistic approach to therapy helps break down barriers, provide clients with the tools to communicate their needs and can reinforce key relationships in client’s lives.

She is a member with PACFA and and SAS (Society of Australian Sexologists).

What are three strengths you have as a Psychologist/Counsellor?

    1. I work holistically, nurturing the relationship between the mind-body so that my clients can feel and process their emotions somatically as well as be able to communicate their experiences clearly. Not only does this help break down barriers in relation to others, it allows the client to understand themselves and their family/relationship dynamics more deeply.

    2. Being a trauma informed practitioner, I understand the necessity of creating a safe and confidential space for clients to freely express themselves. Clients can vocalise and work through the difficult and sensitive topics surrounding sex, gender and sexuality in a judgement-free setting.

    3. Working as a culturally sensitive and responsive practitioner. I provide a welcoming and respectful space for all gendered, sexual, racial and cultural identities.
