    About Therapist

Allison is a Counsellor and Psychotherapist with specialist training in Couple Therapy and Transpersonal Counselling. She offers a Holistic and Integrative approach to her work with both Couples and Individuals, drawing on many therapeutic models and theories such as Attachment theory; Mindfulness and Somatic processes; and how our fight or flight defence mechanisms effect our wellbeing.

Allison provides a compassionate and calming presence in the room. She offers therapeutic tools that facilitate a ‘working through’ of challenges, exploration of feelings, and a connection to your own inner resources and wisdom. This person-centred process empowers you to make choices that are based on a more authentic and secure sense of self.

She sees her role as that of a companion and witness. She supports you to take small yet very effective steps towards ‘showing up’ for yourself. She is committed to providing you with the best in self-care that therapy can offer, helping you to transform challenging times into greater self knowledge, and growth.

How many years counselling experience do you have?

    Over 7 years.

What are three strengths you have as a Psychologist/Counsellor?
    1. Compassionate presence
    2. Assertive
    3. Calming
What is the most satisfying and fulfilling part of the work you do?

When my clients feel safe they allow process work to occur organically by connecting compassionately with their emotions. I witness a shift that is occurring right before me and I can see their confidence grow and the empathy for self and other.

What’s an example of a couple you have helped the most?

One partner had been suffering from depression and felt a pressure from their partner to get better because of the burden they would have to carry. I was able to help the client making the demands to soften their own expectations on themselves which allowed a safe space for the partner suffering from depression to process some deep emotional pain in the session. Empathy and understanding between them grew in that moment.
