In reflection, Susan says “The past ten years have been challenging yet extremely valuable years, working within some very difficult areas of counselling. The reward comes when achieving a turn in perspective for people, it has been a true leveller, to realize that no matter where people are situated on the socio-economic spectrum, we all feel and think in the same dynamic, we all hurt, and we all can heal. Susan has worked the northern shores of Sydney, and all major capital cities nationally. Now bringing this polished approach home, Susan operates in Private Practice in the Gold Coast.
Susan continues… ” The best reward for me I feel comes when a person discloses that they have seen other counsellors, some for years, and they state, without any significant changes. We live in a very complicated world, I understand well the complexities that go with doing so. Without reaching out when we are hurting, we are at risk of developing depression, to not speak about our emotional pain, puts us at risk.. . . it’s not a bad idea nowadays, to put your hand up and ask for some guidance and support, this is the hardest thing for some to do, but the most crucial step, as it is the first stroke on a canvas for creating a new life ahead. Most people that come in for support and counselling, work well, and so they are able to recover, get stronger, and move ahead with their lives.
Other specialist areas include couples and relationship counselling, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, spectrum disorders, manic depression, childhood and adult mood disorders, confidence and self-esteem issues for women and men, addictions, self harming, sexual abuse, cult affiliation and abuse, torture and trauma victims. Susan has worked nationally, also at the highest level of clinical psychotherapy and counselling, and in some very difficult localities and social settings; such as Bondi and Sydney’s Western and Northern Districts.
