Dr Jayne’s counselling practice builds on over thirty years of experience working across a broad range of roles in the mental health space. Her areas of expertise include women’s wellbeing, sexual and reproductive health, parenting, gender and sexual diversity, grief and loss, addiction, life transitions and ageing.
Dr Jayne original trained in psychology and completed a PhD exploring how young women navigate relationships. Her academic work includes over 200 publications covering topics as varied as coping strategies among women, conceptualisations of addiction among people using drugs and their family members, flourishing among LGBTIQ+ communities, sexual behaviour among adolescents, psychological distress related to infertility, postnatal depression, caregiving in midlife and older ages, and attitudes towards ageing.
A pivotal moment in Dr Jayne’s journey occurred during the COVID pandemic when she had the opportunity to become a counsellor for young people. Witnessing the power of theoretical knowledge applied to an individual person’s situation to generate profound change for the better was inspiring and deeply rewarding.

Jayne’s academic background informs her use of evidence-based therapies including Emotion-Focused Therapy and Solution-Focused Therapy, drawing on a range of strategies that can really make a difference.
