Dee’s approach is shaped not only by her extensive clinical training but also by her own lived experience as a trauma survivor. This personal understanding has deepened her empathy and reinforced her belief that, with the right support, meaningful change is possible.

More About Dee

    • Empathy and Compassion – My lived experience as a trauma survivor, combined with over 25 years of clinical experience, allows me to connect with clients on a deeper level, creating a safe, understanding and non-judgemental therapeutic environment.
    • Clinical Knowledge and Expertise – My extensive training in trauma, family therapy, IFS, EMDR and couples therapy enables me to understand complex presentations and tailor interventions to each client’s individual needs.
    • Building Trust and Inspiring Hope – I have a strong ability to build meaningful therapeutic relationships, particularly with clients who feel overwhelmed or hopeless. One of my greatest strengths is helping people recognise their own resilience and witnessing them achieve meaningful, lasting change.
  • Over 5 years

  • As a trauma survivor myself, the most fulfilling part of my work is being able to draw on both my lived experience and over 25 years of professional knowledge to help others find hope and healing.

There is nothing more rewarding than sitting with someone who feels hopeless, overwhelmed or disconnected from themselves and witnessing their gradual transformation. Seeing clients begin to understand their trauma, develop self-compassion and realise that their past does not have to define their future is incredibly meaningful to me.

I feel privileged to share my knowledge, walk alongside people during some of their most vulnerable moments and witness them rediscover their strength, confidence and sense of self.

For me, the greatest reward is seeing hope return where there was once hopelessness, and knowing I have played a part in that journey.

  • One example that stands out is working with a couple whose relationship had been deeply affected by infidelity, broken trust and emotional disconnection. Both were carrying considerable hurt, and at times it was difficult for them to see a way forward.

Using my training in Emotionally Focused Therapy, Internal Family Systems and trauma-informed practice, I helped them begin to understand the fears, vulnerabilities and protective behaviours beneath their anger and conflict.

What was particularly rewarding was witnessing the gradual shift from blame and defensiveness towards greater emotional awareness, accountability and compassion. They began communicating more openly, recognising each other’s emotional needs and taking steps towards rebuilding trust.

For me, the most meaningful part was seeing hope begin to return to a relationship that had been overshadowed by pain and uncertainty.

It reminded me why I love this work. Helping people reconnect with themselves and each other, particularly when they have almost lost hope, is an extraordinary privilege.
