Peter invests his enthusiasm and energy into identifying each person’s strengths, from which he can guide rebuilding trust in marital distress. The joy from seeing a person awaken to a new reality in life is what Peter strives to achieve. A couple can expect to benefit from a reinvigorated vitality and intimacy with their partner. Peter’s approach uses the latest neurobiological understandings and emotional underpinnings of human functioning to help each person or couple be the best they want to be for themselves, each other and their children. Sometimes it is desirable for one partner to resolve personal challenges that severely impact family relationships. In which case Peter can offer individual therapy.
Peter’s clinical work and ongoing personal development has focussed on building a critical reflective capacity to enhance one’s resilience to the everyday life struggles that sometimes overwhelm. He has specialisation certificates in neuropsychotherapy, trauma therapy, emotionally-focussed therapy, emotion-focussed and transpersonal expressive therapy, developmental couple therapy, prepare/enrich couple and parenting education, Positive Lifestyle Program facilitation and professional supervision. His ongoing professional development has focussed on couple therapies, trauma treatment, relationship repair, attachment disruptions and resolution, internal family systems theory, transactional analysis, narrative therapy, monitoring self-harm and suicidal ideation, personality disorder support, understanding psychosis, dealing with child sexual abuse and veteran mental health.
Peter is motivated to honour and foster the spiritual, cultural and philosophical orientation of each person, as a pathway towards their resilience in life. He respects all forms of gender relationships and has sensitivity to multicultural and multifaith perspectives.
