Dave is a Clinical Sexologist, Psychotherapist, Counsellor, and Educator with more than 25 years of experience helping people feel seen, understood, and empowered. I work with individuals and couples from all backgrounds, supporting them through issues around intimacy, identity, relationships, mental health, and sexual wellbeing.
People often come to me when they’re feeling stuck, disconnected, or unsure where to turn. Whether it’s a crisis in a relationship, sexual challenges, feelings of low self-worth, or questions around gender and identity, I aim to create a space that is safe, respectful, and deeply human. My clients include individuals navigating:
- Relationship difficulties
- Sexual addiction or compulsive behaviours
- Sexual dysfunction and health-related challenges
- Gender and sexual identity, including LGBTIQ+ clients and non-gay identifying men who have sex with men
- Body image issues, low self-esteem, shame, or trauma
- Life with disability or complex mental health needs (including NDIS participants)
I bring a holistic and collaborative approach to therapy. You are the expert in your life, and I’m here to walk beside you. Together, we explore your story, patterns, and strengths, using curiosity and evidence-based tools to guide meaningful change. Therapy doesn’t need to feel clinical or cold—in fact, I believe it works best when it’s flexible, creative, and real.
Clients often describe me as warm, down-to-earth, and easy to talk to. I use storytelling, metaphor, and humour where appropriate, and I draw from modalities like narrative therapy, strengths-based practice, and person-centred approaches. Most importantly, I tailor sessions to fit each person’s pace and preferences—no one-size-fits-all here.
What Makes Me Different Beyond my academic background, I’ve worked extensively in community health, education, LGBTIQ+ advocacy, trauma recovery, and with people experiencing discrimination, marginalisation, or barriers to support. I’ve facilitated national workshops, created outreach initiatives for high-risk populations, and offered therapy where traditional services fell short. This means I’m not afraid of complexity—I welcome it.
