David is a Registered Psychologist in Phillip, ACT with extensive experience working with individuals and couples across a wide range of emotional, relationship, and mental health concerns. His professional journey began after experiencing firsthand the benefits of therapy, inspiring him to complete a Psychology (Honours) degree at the University of New South Wales as a mature-age student.
Over the course of his career, David has worked in private practice, community mental health, relationship counselling services, and Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs). He has collaborated with multidisciplinary teams including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, addiction counsellors, child psychologists, and mental health nurses, giving him broad experience supporting people from diverse backgrounds and life circumstances.
David has undertaken advanced training in Marriage and Family Therapy, EMDR, Clinical and Ericksonian Hypnotherapy, Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), Conflict Resolution and Mediation, Voice Dialogue, Life Coaching, and the Prepare/Enrich relationship program. He was also among the first Australian practitioners to train in EMDR with its founder, Dr Francine Shapiro. He continues to incorporate evidence-based approaches that help clients heal from trauma, manage anxiety, improve relationships, and create meaningful change in their lives.
David’s approach is warm, practical, and collaborative. He sees therapy as a partnership and works alongside clients to help them better understand their challenges, build on their strengths, and develop effective strategies for achieving their goals. Clients often appreciate his conversational style, active listening, respect, and ability to balance empathy with practical guidance.
A particular area of passion for David is working with couples. He enjoys helping partners improve communication, rebuild trust, reconnect emotionally, and strengthen the friendship and intimacy that form the foundation of a healthy relationship. His goal is to help couples become supportive teammates who can navigate life’s challenges together with greater understanding and connection.
Having migrated to Australia as a teenager and successfully adapted to a new culture and language, David also brings a personal understanding of life transitions, resilience, and change. He has been happily married for many years and values the importance of mutual respect, support, communication, and shared growth in long-term relationships.
David feels privileged to support people through difficult times and is passionate about helping clients heal, grow, and create healthier, more fulfilling lives and relationships.
